ESK: Do Not Close Down Deutsche Welle's Greek Program

Deutsche Welle has decided to discontinue its Greek-language program after 62 years of operation, sparking strong reactions from the journalistic community in Greece, Cyprus, Germany, and the Greek diaspora. The Union of Cyprus Journalists (ESK) expressed strong protest, emphasizing that the funding cut does not justify the termination of such an important program. ESK also recalled the closure of the BBC's Greek section and the difficulties faced by the Greek section of Euronews, warning of the gap that will be created in the information of the Greek community. ESK, in coordination with POESY, calls on the governments of Greece and Cyprus to cooperate to prevent the closure of DW's Greek program. Maintaining the Greek voice of the German public broadcaster is considered crucial for informing and communicating with the Greek community.
