Environmental Commissioner Criticizes Road Network Redesign in Akamas

The Environmental Commissioner and Animal Welfare Officer, Antonia Theodosiou, expresses strong concerns about the lack of a complete redesign of the road network in the Akamas area. She points out that the interventions made so far do not take into account the unique characteristics of the area and do not contribute to the protection of biodiversity. Ms. Theodosiou emphasizes the need for an interdisciplinary study that considers the physiognomy and topography of Akamas, as well as the final use of the roads. Additionally, she states that the road network is in a semi-finished state and the initial decisions for the management of the area are not being implemented, while pointing out that these are forest roads and not public roads.
