Energy Minister Heads to Cairo
The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianou is travelling to Cairo for talks and to sign a Framework Agreement for the development of natural gas discoveries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus, within the framework of the EGYPES 2026 exhibition. During the visit, he will accompany the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides to a meeting with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and participate in a Ministerial Roundtable Discussion on energy priorities and security. The Framework Agreement concerns the development of the 'Cronos' and 'Aphrodite' fields. The Minister will also have bilateral meetings with representatives of companies such as TotalEnergies, BP, Arcius and ExxonMobil, as well as with the Secretary-General of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum. The visit marks the strengthening of energy cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt.
