ELAM Positions Itself as a Successor to Clerides' Political School

According to its president, Christos Christou, ELAM is shaping its own political line, drawing inspiration from the "Clerides school". This reference was made in a discussion with a journalist as part of Alpha's broadcasts for the parliamentary elections. Christou argued that his political life is a lesson for today's political leaders. The reference to the "Clerides school" is new for ELAM, although the party has absorbed former officials of DISY. This move is considered strategic, as it aims at disillusioned voters of DISY who admired Glaucos Clerides and believe that his policy would lead to a solution to the Cyprus issue (such as the Annan plan).
