Eirini Charalambidou to be Removed from AKEL Parliamentary Group

Eirini Charalambidou is expected to be removed from the AKEL parliamentary group following today's communication with the party's General Secretary, Stefanos Stefanou. Ms. Charalambidou refused to take the lead of an Anti-Corruption Observatory proposed by AKEL, wishing to continue her parliamentary work. However, AKEL has already completed its ballot and is expected to ask Ms. Charalambidou to relinquish the presidency of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights. She stated that she will await the party's final decision, while rumors suggest she has already received a cooperation proposal from the Alma Movement in view of the parliamentary elections.
