Education Committee Calls for Incentives for Private Kindergartens

The Parliamentary Committee on Education has requested the Government to enhance incentives for private kindergartens, aligning them with those provided to other levels of private education. Committee President, Pavlos Mylonas, stated that legislative changes have put private kindergartens in a difficult position, while the Ministry of Education has pledged to address the issue. Shortages of kindergarten and primary school teachers were also noted, with hopes for resolution by the Ministry. MP Christos Christofides of AKEL emphasized that private kindergartens, as small and medium-sized enterprises, have been excluded from government incentive schemes for private education. He highlighted the need for coordination between the Ministries of Education and Interior to resolve the problem, which would not burden the state budget but would benefit businesses. MP Alekos Tryfonidis of DIPA acknowledged the significant contribution of private kindergartens and requested guarantees and resources to support them, such as relaxed urban planning incentives and grants for young children. Discussions are expected to continue to prevent the closure of kindergartens. Separately, a poll was conducted regarding a video alleging corruption mechanisms within the Presidential Palace, with 3,689 participants.
