DISY Calls on Government for Measures Against Crime

DISY (Democratic Rally) expressed its strong concern over the recent criminal incidents in Larnaca, as well as the general cycle of violence and anarchy prevailing in Cyprus. In a statement, DISY emphasized that ensuring public order and the safety of citizens is a fundamental obligation of the state and that citizens expect the restoration of security in their daily lives. DISY calls on the government to take immediate and substantial preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. It points out that the government must prioritize the development of a comprehensive and effective strategy to combat organized crime. The DISY statement specifically mentions the bloody shootout in Larnaca, the murder in Paphos, and the attempted murder in Tersefanou as examples of the critical situation. DISY stresses that the government must take responsibility for restoring security and citizens' trust.
