DIPA: 'Questions Regarding Papadopoulos' Insistence on Immediate Commitment to the GSI'

The Democratic Alignment (DIPA) has criticized the president of the Democratic Party, Nikola Papadopoulos, for his insistence on Cyprus' immediate commitment to the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project. DIPA recognizes the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the project but emphasizes the need for clear sustainability documentation and the protection of public finances. It points out that research by the Ministry of Energy raises serious questions about the project's viability. DIPA questions Papadopoulos' persistence, given the joint decision of Nicosia and Athens to re-examine the data and attract more investors. It also expresses concerns about the alignment of the DIPA vice-president, Michalis Damianou, with the government's positions, given his assumption of the Ministry of Energy.
