Denmark and Greenland Propose NATO Mission to the Arctic

Denmark and Greenland have proposed sending a NATO force to the Arctic, in an effort to address the growing geopolitical tensions in the region. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen discussed the matter with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. This proposal comes at a time of increased concern regarding the intentions of the United States, following President Trump's threats of military occupation of Greenland. Mr. Rasmussen emphasized that it is important to show Trump that the threat of tariffs is not the right way forward. Denmark and Greenland have already taken steps to prevent Chinese investment in the island, and Mr. Rasmussen messaged Trump that Greenland is not for sale. The NATO mission could help strengthen security and stability in the Arctic.
