Defense Committee: Some SYOP Will Reach the Rank of Sergeant and Scale A8 – MPs Express Satisfaction with New Measures

The House Defense Committee discussed the substantial changes to the employment status and career progression of Contract Soldiers (SYOP) being promoted by the Ministry of Defense, with the aim of revitalizing the institution and strengthening the operational readiness of the National Guard. The measures, which were approved by the Council of Ministers, include extending the duration of service, increasing the age of entry, the possibility of permanent employment as Contract Non-Commissioned Officers (SYP), and improving allowances. Specifically, it is planned to allow enlistment in the institution up to the age of 35, extend service to the age of 57, make SYOPs who complete 10 years of service permanent, and increase allowances for specialties with high operational requirements. In addition, SYOPs who have left and re-enlist will be able to count their previous years of service. MPs expressed satisfaction with the new measures, which are considered crucial for attracting and retaining personnel in the National Guard. The Minister of Defense and the Chief of the National Guard emphasized the importance of professional upgrading and ensuring adequate numbers and experienced personnel.
