Decentralization of Mental Health Services Crucial, Says PASYDY

The Mental Health Nursing Branch of PASYDY (Pan Cyprian Union of Public Employees) emphasizes the need to maintain and strengthen care facilities for dependent individuals in Limassol. They stress that the decentralization of mental health services to all provinces is essential for equal access of citizens to quality services. They highlight the high occupancy rates of existing facilities and the need to increase the number of beds. Furthermore, they state that the co-location of programs has not yielded the expected therapeutic results in Cyprus, as the care of dependent individuals requires specialized and distinct facilities. PASYDY calls on the state and the Cyprus Public Health Service (OKYPY) to consider their positions and invest in public health and human dignity.
