Damianou Criticizes Handling of Surveillance Scandal, Highlights Discrepancies with Greece

AKEL MP Aristos Damianou strongly criticized the handling of the surveillance scandal, speaking of institutional entanglement and corruption. He stated that in Greece, key figures in the scandal were convicted, while in Cyprus, despite the existence of documented evidence of the relationship between the Anastasiades government and surveillance companies, the Legal Service chose to suspend criminal prosecution and impose a ridiculous fine. Mr. Damianou described the settlement as unprecedented and condemned the lack of transparency and accountability in the case.
