Cyprus Sees 28.9% Reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emission Intensity

Cyprus has recorded a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emission intensity of 28.9% during the period 2013-2024, according to Eurostat data. This reduction is higher than the EU average of 34%. The largest source of emissions in Cyprus remains the electricity and natural gas sector, accounting for over 40% of total emissions. At the EU level, the energy sector saw the largest improvement in emission intensity, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing experienced an increase.
