Cyprus reaffirms commitment to regional energy cooperation and security at P-TEC Summit

It was agreed that the next 3+1 Energy Dialogue meeting will take place in Washington in the second quarter of 2026, to further expand regional collaboration in the energy sector
Cyprus reiterated its strong commitment to regional cooperation, energy security, and the green transition during the 6th Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC) Summit and the 3+1 Ministerial Meeting, held on 6–7 November in Athens, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry said in a press release.
Energy Minister George Papanastasiou represented Cyprus at the two-day summit, organized by the Atlantic Council. On the sidelines, he held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Israel, Estonia and Lithuania, as well as with senior executives from major energy companies.
During the P-TEC Summit, Papanastasiou participated in the 3+1 Ministerial Meeting between the Energy Ministers of Cyprus, Greece, Israel and the United States, which focused on strengthening regional energy cooperation and advancing energy security in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the four ministers, together with the Co-Chairs of the U.S. National Energy Sovereignty Council, reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting energy cooperation and security in the Eastern Mediterranean. They also voiced support for the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center, describing it as a key pillar for the region’s strategic stability and resilience.
The ministers further endorsed broader regional connectivity projects—both existing and planned—under the India–Middle East–Europe Corridor (IMEC), pointing out the importance of energy development and cooperation to protect critical infrastructure.
The four countries also pledged to continue using the 3+1 framework to advance diversification of energy sources and enhance connectivity among like-minded partners. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Europe–Israel cooperation in the field of energy infrastructure.
It was agreed that the next 3+1 Energy Dialogue meeting will take place in Washington in the second quarter of 2026, to further expand regional collaboration in the energy sector.
