According to Eurostat, Cyprus ranks fourth in the European Union in terms of car ownership, with 661 passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants in 2024. Additionally, it is second in the EU in the number of air passengers, with 12.5 passengers per inhabitant. The Eurostat report highlights key data on transport in Europe, including infrastructure, economic impact and environmental effects. Cyprus has a higher rate of car ownership than the EU average (578 cars/1000 inhabitants), while Italy, Luxembourg and Finland have higher rates. Regarding air transport, Cyprus follows Malta, which recorded 15.6 passengers per inhabitant. In Cyprus, 97.5% of vehicle kilometers concern national transport.
