Cyprus Police Union Files Appeal Against New Shift Schedule

The ISOTITA union has filed an appeal to the Administrative Court regarding the change in the shift schedule and the reduction of overtime for police officers, which it describes as a unilateral and arbitrary decision by the Chief of Police. Simultaneously, ISOTITA is planning a protest outside the Parliament on January 21st and meetings with parliamentary parties to inform them about the alleged labor injustices. The union states its determination to exhaust all trade union means to defend the rights of police officers. Meanwhile, PASYDY and the Cyprus Police Association (SAK) announced they will approach the dialogue on police working hours in good faith and with a constructive attitude. However, they expressed strong dissatisfaction and indignation over the statements made by the Chief of Police, which they believe ignore labor institutions and undermine existing agreements. The two unions welcome the invitation to participate in the MEP on January 27th, with the aim of discussing and thoroughly examining labor issues. They emphasize their desire to resolve the issue with respect for existing agreements. Despite their willingness to engage in dialogue, PASYDY and SAK warn that if the dialogue does not yield the expected results, they will consider taking reactive measures to protect the rights of police officers.
