Cyprus Government Determined to Combat Organized Crime

Minister of Justice Kostas Fytiris assured that the government is committed to combating organized crime in Cyprus, emphasizing that the state operates based on laws. He stated that the Police are evaluating the videos posted by Ioanna Fotiou on social media, but cannot confirm whether a team will be sent to Russia for testimony. Mr. Fytiris clarified that his oversight of the Police is political, while operational command rests with the Chief of Police. He stressed the need for evidence and proof for the successful prosecution of organized crime, while describing the new legislation on economic crime as an important tool for the Police. Regarding Ioanna Fotiou's allegations, he mentioned that all information is being evaluated and the Attorney General will decide on further actions.
