Cyprus and EACA Co-organize Event in Brussels on the Role of Communication

The Association of Advertising and Communication of Cyprus (SDEK) co-organized an event in Brussels with the European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) on the occasion of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The central theme of the event was the crucial role of communication and advertising in the modern European reality. The President of SDEK, Konstantinos Daltas, emphasized the importance of the Cypriot Presidency in a period of geopolitical challenges, highlighting the responsibility and opportunity it offers to strengthen the cohesion and resilience of the EU. Members of the European Parliament, Michalis Hadjipantela and Kostas Mavrides, expressed their support for SDEK and stressed the need for effective communication and reliable information, both in relation to the Cypriot Presidency and more generally for Europe. Mr. Mavrides emphasized that effectiveness cannot exist without communication and publicity. The event focused on the central message of the Cypriot Presidency, “An Autonomous Union, Open to the World,” and the key policy pillars concerning security, competitiveness, the Union’s international role, the protection of European values, and the budget. The goal is to shape a more autonomous Europe. The CEO of EACA, Charley Stoney, and Dr. Mónika Magyar, Senior Public Affairs & Legal Advisor of EACA, emphasized the importance of cooperation and the critical role of communication and advertising in shaping policies that are understandable, reliable, and effective for European citizens, especially during times of change. Rona Kasapi, President of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Radio Television Authority, expressed a desire for further strengthening of cooperation in the field of advertising, which she characterized as important for the development of the Cypriot economy.
