Cypriot Members of the MMD in Brussels to Support EU Council Security

Cyprus is taking on the support of security for the European Councils in Brussels during the first half of 2026, as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council. For this purpose, a team of 13 members of the Cypriot Police (MMD) has been formed, which will be stationed in Brussels to enhance the security of the Council's facilities and other meeting venues. The team is already providing security at the Informal Council for Competitiveness and will participate in all security procedures, from preparatory meetings to the completion of events. This move is part of Cyprus's broader effort to contribute to security and stability within the European Union.
