Crisis in the Persian Gulf: China Suspends Diesel Exports

The Chinese government has called on its largest refineries to temporarily suspend exports of diesel and gasoline, due to increased tensions in the Persian Gulf disrupting crude oil production. Officials from the NDRC have met with refinery representatives and asked them to halt shipments and refrain from entering into new contracts. This move is part of an effort to ensure adequate domestic energy reserves, following the reduction in fuel flows from the Middle East. China also plans to reduce production capacity in certain industrial sectors and tighten control of production capacity in others.
