Court Rejects Syka's Bid to Halt DISY Decision

The Limassol District Court has rejected MP Nikos Syka's request for a temporary injunction to prevent the examination of DISY's decision to remove him from the parliamentary election ballot. The decision paves the way for the ratification of the removal by the party's Supreme Council on Saturday. The court emphasized that it does not interfere with the internal functioning of DISY but has the power to interpret its statutes and check compliance with its provisions. However, no violation of the statute was found, and Syka has not yet been officially removed from the ballot. The court stated that Syka has the option to appeal again if his removal is ratified. The main lawsuit filed by Syka against DISY will be examined at a later stage.
