Council of Europe Lifts Diplomatic Immunity of Former Secretary-General Jagland in Epstein Probe

The Council of Europe has lifted the diplomatic immunity of its former Secretary-General, Thor Bjorn Jagland, who is under investigation in Norway for his alleged connections to Jeffrey Epstein. The investigation concerns aggravated corruption and is being conducted by the Norwegian police's financial crime unit. The case came to light following the release of new files from the US Department of Justice, also implicating other Norwegian public figures, such as Princess Mette-Marit and former Foreign Minister Børge Brende. Jagland maintains his innocence and states his willingness to cooperate with the authorities. The lifting of his immunity allows Norwegian authorities to proceed with the investigation without legal obstacles.
