Coordination Between Nicosia and Athens on the Cyprus Issue Ahead of Mitsotakis-Erdogan Meeting

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, had a telephone conversation with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to coordinate the positions of Nicosia and Athens regarding the Cyprus issue, ahead of the upcoming Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting. The discussion focused on the resumption of substantial negotiations from the point where they were interrupted in Crans Montana and maintaining regional stability. During the communication, the two leaders exchanged views and assessed the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as efforts to restart negotiations within the framework of the United Nations. The importance of adherence to International Law, the European acquis, and the resolutions of the Security Council was emphasized. The two leaders agreed on the need to continue efforts to restart the negotiating process from Crans Montana, with the aim of a sustainable and functional solution. They also committed to continuing close cooperation and regular coordination at all levels. The telephone conversation is part of the ongoing dialogue between Nicosia and Athens on the Cyprus issue, with the aim of promoting national interests and achieving a just and sustainable solution.
