Consumer Association Calls for Measures to Address Rising Fuel and Food Prices

The Consumer Association expresses concern over the continuous increases in fuel and food prices and calls for immediate support measures for citizens. It proposes a series of ten measures, including reducing VAT on electricity and abolishing it on pollutants, preventing increases in lending rates, suspending emergency taxes, and providing a tiered subsidy for electricity costs. Additionally, it calls for a drastic reduction in the special consumption tax on fuels, the abolition of double taxation, special subsidies for fuels and basic goods, taxation of the excess profits of renewable energy companies and fuel importers, and control of profit margins. The Association calls for strict market controls to prevent profiteering and its criminalization. It points out that increases have been observed for years and expresses doubts about the effectiveness of political interventions, calling for the immediate implementation of the proposed measures.
