Conflicting Reports of Iranian Missiles Targeting British Bases in Cyprus

British Defence Secretary John Healey stated that two Iranian missiles were reportedly launched towards British bases in Cyprus, but were intercepted by Israel. However, the Cypriot government categorically denies any threat to the country. The Government Spokesman stated that there was no launch of missiles towards Cyprus and that the authorities are monitoring the situation. The Defence Secretary expressed concern about possible regional escalation and called on Iran to stop the attacks. Approximately 300 British soldiers were near areas that were targeted in Bahrain. Britain assures that its defensive operations comply with international law. There are conflicting reports about the target of the missiles and the possibility that they were aimed at British bases.
