Concerns Raised Over Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant

The Parliamentary Committee on the Environment discussed concerns regarding the construction of the nuclear power plant in Akkuyu, Turkey. Scientific data was presented by government departments, while concerns were expressed by organizations, such as the Cyprus Anti-Nuclear Platform, regarding the risks of earthquakes, waste management, thermal pollution, and terrorism. The Platform also expressed concerns about the nuclear power plant being built in Egypt. Representatives emphasized the need for the Eastern Mediterranean to be free from nuclear power plants.
