Colombia: Explosion at Cocaine Factory - At Least Nine Dead

An explosion at an illegal cocaine processing laboratory in southwestern Colombia, near the border with Ecuador, has killed at least nine people and injured eight others. The explosion was caused by a gas canister detonating during the drug-making process. The laboratory was located in an indigenous community and was operated by a dissenting faction of the former FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) that did not sign the 2016 peace agreement. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion and the conditions under which the laboratory was operating.
