Christofidis: Huge Gaps in the YAC, Abandonment of Private Kindergartens and Mockery of Special Education

MP Christos Christofidis expressed serious concerns regarding the problems facing the Youth Makers Cyprus (YAC), special and unified education, and private kindergartens. He denounced delays, organizational gaps, and omissions on the part of the government, calling for immediate legislative intervention and coordination of the relevant ministries. Specifically, Mr. Christofidis referred to the pending case of a YAC employee, as well as the fact that the organization is operating without an Executive Director, with the Deputy Executive Director being partially detached to the Presidential Palace, where she is allegedly involved in pre-election preparations. He considered this to be creating functional problems within the organization. Furthermore, the MP emphasized that the government has established incentives for the establishment of private universities and secondary schools, but has failed to include private kindergartens, creating injustice for small and medium-sized businesses in the sector. He called for an immediate correction of this omission. Finally, Mr. Christofidis underlined the urgent need for legislation regarding special education, blaming the government for the delay in solving the problems faced by children with disabilities and their families.
