Christodoulides to Italian Media: Calls on Europe to Lead De-escalation Efforts Regarding Iran

President Nikos Christodoulides, speaking to Francesca Basso of Corriere della Sera, called on Europe to lead an effort to de-escalate the situation regarding Iran. He emphasized that the war in Iran directly concerns the European Union, particularly in relation to energy and competitiveness. President Christodoulides stated that Cyprus is willing to host talks between Lebanon and Israel, highlighting the importance of maintaining stability in the region. He expressed his satisfaction with the immediate response of EU member states, such as Greece, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, following the recent incident in Cyprus. President Christodoulides stressed that Cyprus remains a safe hub and that life on the island continues normally. He expressed his gratitude for the support of Italy and recognized the importance of Cyprus as a member of the EU and the wider Middle East region.
