Christodoulides: Presidential Aircraft to Transport Patients for Immediate Transplant – Support Framework for People with Disabilities

President Nikos Christodoulides announced a significant social reform that strengthens the Welfare State and upgrades the framework for supporting people with disabilities. The reform includes the establishment of a unified and comprehensive legislative framework for the social inclusion and independent living of people with disabilities. A key element of the reform is independent living, with benefits decoupled from income criteria for people with severe disabilities, enhancing their dignity and autonomy. €106 million has been allocated for the three-year period 2026-2028 to implement the reform. In addition, President Christodoulides announced the availability of the National Guard’s aviation assets, including the presidential aircraft, for the air transport of patients requiring immediate transplants, as well as for the transport of grafts. The government will work closely with the Social Alliance of Citizens to effectively implement the measures.
