Changes to Red Light Camera Fines

New regulations for the out-of-court settlement of red light violations at camera-controlled intersections came into effect today, March 6th, following a decision by the Council of Ministers. The changes apply without retroactive effect and are provided for in Law 91(I)/2024. Violating the mandatory stop line is punishable by a fine of 25 euros. Failure to comply with a red light at a pedestrian crossing results in a fine of 85 euros and three penalty points. If the vehicle enters beyond the pedestrian crossing, the fine reaches 300 euros with three penalty points. The same applies to intersections without pedestrian crossings, where entering beyond the white stop line results in a fine of 300 euros and three penalty points.
