Call for RSV Vaccination After 40-Year-Old Man's Death

Following the death of a 40-year-old man from the RSV virus, Professor of Public Health, Theodoros Lytras, reminded the public of the availability of a vaccine for the virus. RSV, a respiratory virus that was previously underestimated, primarily affects young children under two years of age and adults over 75 years of age. A vaccine is available for adults aged 60-74 with underlying medical conditions, for all adults over 75 years of age, and for pregnant women. In addition, the administration of monoclonal antibodies to infants is recommended, as the virus can lead to severe symptoms and hospitalization in a small percentage of individuals.
