British Bases Align with Cyprus' Measures to Combat Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The British Bases in Cyprus (BB) are fully aligned with the measures taken by the Republic of Cyprus to address the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. Representatives of the BB are participating in the coordination committee meetings at the Coordination Center for Research and Rescue (CCRS) in Larnaca, ensuring full information and harmonization. Additional preventive measures have been taken, such as intensified patrols, checks and the installation of additional disinfection points, in coordination with the Veterinary Services of Cyprus. Currently, there are no confirmed cases within the areas of the BB, however, the measures are preventive in nature to protect animal and community health. BB authorities have confirmed that any suspected violations are reported to the veterinary authorities and communication with local communities and livestock farmers continues.
