Attempted Murder in Larnaca: Man Attacks Ex-Wife's Partner with Machete

A 33-year-old Albanian man has been placed under an eight-day detention order for attempted murder against a 40-year-old Romanian man and for attacking his ex-wife. According to the Police, the 33-year-old attacked the 40-year-old on the balcony of the 46-year-old Cypriot woman's apartment, with whom the ex-wife had a relationship. He then broke into the apartment and attacked the 40-year-old with a machete, causing serious injuries, including amputation of fingers. The 33-year-old allegedly threatened the 46-year-old woman, while as the 40-year-old tried to escape from the balcony, the attacker caught up and inflicted further injuries. The 40-year-old is hospitalized in serious condition at the General Hospital of Nicosia. The Police are investigating the incident as attempted murder, as well as a series of other offenses, such as causing grievous bodily harm, carrying a weapon, and burglary. The motive behind the attack appears to be personal disputes.
