Arrests Made in Deadly Factory Explosion – Investigation Reveals Gas Leak

The three arrested in connection with the deadly explosion at the 'Violanta' factory in Trikala – the owner, the safety technician, and the shift technician – have been brought before the prosecutor. They face charges of manslaughter, grievous bodily harm, arson, and explosion. The explosion was caused by a propane leak from corroded pipes, which were located underground and not in the basement where the explosion occurred. Employees had reported a gas smell days before, but no action was taken. The company is cooperating with the authorities to determine the causes of the tragic incident. A three-day mourning period has been declared in the municipality of Trikala. A surviving worker described the agonizing moments she experienced.
