In Larnaca, authorities have arrested one of the individuals involved in a violent brawl that occurred on Saturday afternoon, with arrest warrants issued for three others. The clash, which included shootings and the use of crowbars and axes, took place on the central Grigori Afxentiou Avenue, near the police headquarters. The offenses under investigation are serious and include conspiracies to commit felonies and misdemeanors, illegal possession and transportation of firearms and explosives, extortion, participation in a criminal organization, assault causing bodily harm, and carrying weapons to incite terror. The arrested individual is a 48-year-old naturalized man, while the wanted suspects are three men of Arab origin aged 35, 26, and 20. Minister of Justice Kostas Fytiris described the incident as a "gang war" and emphasized the brazenness of criminal activity. He stressed the need to suppress crime in every way and pledged the government's determination to combat organized crime and all forms of illegality. Mr. Fytiris also referred to the lack of adequate resources for the Police and called on Parliament to approve pending legislation that would strengthen its capabilities. At the same time, he appealed to the public to assist in the investigation by providing information or reporting suspicious activities, even anonymously. Police are conducting investigations to locate and arrest the wanted suspects.
