Arnaoutis: Enhanced Cooperation on Irregular Migration via Europol

The Chief of the Cyprus Police, Themistos Arnaoutis, participated in a meeting of the Europol Management Board in The Hague, as part of the launch of the European Centre for Combatting Illegal Migration (ECAMS). His presence highlights the active role of the Cyprus Police in European efforts to tackle irregular migration. Mr. Arnaoutis welcomed the operation of the new center, emphasizing that it will contribute to strengthening cooperation between member states, information exchange and better coordination of actions to combat migrant smuggling networks. ECAMS is a new operational pillar within Europol, aiming to strengthen information analysis, operational coordination and cross-border cooperation in combating migrant smuggling networks, which are often linked to other forms of serious crime. The participation of the Cyprus Police underscores its commitment to actively contributing to European police cooperation.
