Argaka Dam Overflows - Call for Rational Water Use

The Argaka dam overflowed this morning, around 8:30 AM, according to the Provincial Engineer of the Water Development Department. The dam has a capacity of 990 thousand cubic meters of water and is part of the Chrysochous irrigation project, used for irrigation. The overflow occurred due to recent rainfall in the Paphos province, which is beneficial for replenishing water reserves. However, the Water Development Department calls on citizens to use water rationally, as needs are increasing. Despite the overflow of the Argaka dam, as well as the Pwmos dam earlier, the Department emphasizes that there should be no complacency. Rational water management remains essential to address water scarcity.
