Amendments to Property Acquisition Law to be Put to Vote Before Parliament Dissolution

The House Interior Committee agreed on the key amendments to the law on the Acquisition of Immovable Property by Foreigners, which will be submitted for a vote to the Plenary Session before the dissolution of Parliament ahead of the parliamentary elections. The amendments aim to regulate the real estate market for foreigners, taking into account both attracting investment and avoiding negative consequences. MP Marinos Sizopoulos of EDEK expressed concern about the possibility of transferring land to citizens of third countries, especially to companies of Turkish interests, and stressed the need for careful management of the issue. The goal is to avoid the creation of monopolistic systems in vital sectors of the economy.
