Amendments to Land Acquisition Law for Foreigners to be Voted on Before Parliament Dissolution

The House Internal Affairs Committee has agreed to submit amendments to the Land Acquisition Law for Foreigners for a vote before the dissolution of Parliament ahead of parliamentary elections. The amendments aim to carefully manage the sale of land to foreigners, in order to avoid the transfer of large areas to citizens of third countries and the creation of monopolistic conditions in vital sectors of the economy. Particular emphasis is placed on controlling companies of Turkish interests operating in Cyprus, so that they do not exploit the right to purchase land for purposes that could endanger the country's interests. The amendments are expected to be put to the Plenary for a vote before the dissolution of Parliament.
