AKEL Urges State to Tackle Organized Crime

AKEL is calling on the state to demonstrate the will, ability, and plan to tackle organized crime and the underworld in Cyprus. Party Spokesman Giorgos Koukoumas stated that recent events confirm the brazenness of criminal networks, both domestic and foreign. Mr. Koukoumas emphasized that the authorities have all the legal tools at their disposal to strike at organized crime, but there is a lack of political will and effective action. He accused the government of incompetence and a lack of planning in addressing the problem. AKEL expects specific actions and results from the government and the competent Minister that will guarantee the safety and sense of security of citizens. The party's statement highlights the need for immediate and decisive action against organized crime.
