AKEL Criticizes Government's Secrecy Regarding Donors to 'First Lady's Fund'

AKEL is accusing the Christodoulides government of maintaining secrecy regarding the donors to the 'First Lady's Fund'. The party argues that this concealment raises legitimate questions about potential quid pro quo arrangements, particularly concerning state contracts. AKEL points out that the Audit Office has already identified suspicious cases of companies that contributed to the fund while simultaneously receiving public works projects. Furthermore, the legality of the concealment is being questioned, as legal experts argue that Parliament has the right to access this data within the framework of parliamentary oversight. AKEL is calling for full transparency and the abolition of the Fund, proposing the transfer of its resources and responsibilities to the Cyprus Investment Fund (ICYK).
