Following the recent publicity of a video regarding lobbying in Cyprus, the law on transparency in public decision-making processes has come to the forefront. According to Nikos Zambakidis, a member of the Independent Authority Against Corruption, the law aims to enhance transparency and prevent acts of corruption. The law changes the practices of lobbyists and officials, requiring lobbyists to register and inform the Authority about their activities. So far, 265 legal or natural persons have registered, a number considered significant for the size of the country. The law stipulates that officials must inform lobbyists that they cannot discuss matters covered by the legislation.
