20-Year Prison Sentence for 31-Year-Old for 110kg of Drugs

A 31-year-old Moldovan national was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca for possession with intent to supply 15.060 kilograms of cocaine and 94.960 kilograms of cannabis. The court stressed that drug trafficking is a social scourge and a mine for society, with serious consequences for the well-being of citizens, especially young people. Despite mitigating factors, such as the young age, clean criminal record, admission of guilt and poor financial situation of the defendant, the court ruled that the severity of the crime and the need for deterrence require the imposition of a severe sentence. This decision highlights the need for deterrent penalties to address drug trafficking.
