Cyprus successfully borrowed €1 billion from the markets through a new 10-year European Medium-Term Note (EMTN) to cover its funding needs for 2026. Investor interest was exceptionally high, with bids reaching €16.5 billion, a record amount for a Cypriot issue. The bond was issued with an interest rate of 3.25% and a price difference of 0.44%, also a historic low. The Ministry of Finance and the Public Debt Management Office announced that the success of the issue reflects the sound economic policy of the government, which creates stability and investor confidence. The continuous upgrades of the Cypriot economy by rating agencies also contributed to the success. Finance Minister Makis Keravnos stated that the issue demonstrates the markets' confidence in the Cypriot economy and the government's ability to implement a prudent economic policy. The government is committed to continuously reducing public debt and strengthening social policy. The successful issuance of the bond will help ensure Cyprus's uninterrupted funding from international markets and reduce the state's borrowing costs.
