"Everything Will Come to Light," Auditor General Assures Regarding Paphos Municipality

Auditor General Andreas Papakonstantinou assured that the Audit Office is not currently investigating anything regarding the Paphos Municipality, but is evaluating complaints that have been submitted. He stressed that if anything reprehensible is found, everything will be made public. The statement was made after the delivery of the Service's Annual Report to the President of the Republic. Mr. Papakonstantinou stated that he will meet with individuals who have submitted complaints about the Paphos Municipality and will evaluate the evidence before deciding on further investigation. He clarified that his service respects those being audited and will only publicize its findings if there are any. Referring to previous complaints, Mr. Papakonstantinou said that the case had been referred to the Paphos Police and then to the Attorney General. He does not know why the findings of the investigation were not made public by his predecessor. Also, the Auditor General expressed concern about the delays in energy projects and the need for more effective management by the responsible bodies.
