The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambidis, has appealed to members of the Parliamentary Committee on Health to proceed with the voting of regulations for the registration of nurses from third countries, despite objections, emphasizing the existence of a serious problem of nursing staff shortage. He stressed that this shortage concerns not only hospitals but also other healthcare facilities. The Minister mentioned that the report of the professor tasked with proposing solutions to the problem is expected on March 8th. He expressed his understanding of the reactions and disagreements, but stressed that they must proceed with the vote on the regulations, as these reactions may never be overcome. Mr. Charalambidis called on the involved bodies to cooperate and proceed with corrective measures, noting that the shortage of nurses is a very serious issue that affects the functioning of the entire health system.
