Kougioumtzian Finishes Slalom with Strong Performance at Winter Olympics

Yiannos Kougioumtzian completed his participation in the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics with a commendable 34th place in the Slalom. Despite the difficult weather conditions, he managed to complete both runs with a total time of 2:19.46, among 39 athletes who finished. Kougioumtzian expressed his satisfaction with the experience and his performance, emphasizing the difficulty of the event and the importance of concentration. In the first run, he faced heavy snowfall and recorded a time of 1:10.88, while in the second run, with improved conditions, he improved his performance and completed the race. Kougioumtzian thanked the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the Federation, his family, and his friends for their support. Kougioumtzian's participation in the Games ended on a positive note, representing his second consecutive Olympic appearance. The Cyprus Olympic Committee will continue its presence in Alpine Skiing with the participation of Andreas Loizidou in the Slalom on Wednesday, February 18th.
