Limassol Kicks Off 'Crazy Ten Days' of Carnival with Traditional 'Tsiknopempti'

Limassol officially launched its carnival festivities with the traditional 'Tsiknopempti' (Charcoal Thursday), with crowds flooding the streets and enjoying music and dancing despite initial rain. The Carnival Queen, Amaryllis, was crowned in an atmosphere of enthusiasm, emphasizing that the carnival is a passion and an integral part of the city's identity. The Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, announced that the crowning of the Queen will be followed by a large procession that will end in Grigoris Afxentiou Square. The events are expected to continue for the next ten days.
