Syria Army Resumes Bombing of Kurdish Neighborhoods in Aleppo

The Syrian army has escalated clashes with Kurdish fighters in Kurdish neighborhoods of Aleppo, demanding their surrender. The fighting, which began on Tuesday, has resulted in at least 21 deaths and the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians, with the UN estimating over 30,000 families have been forced to flee their homes. Despite a previous ceasefire and offers of safe passage, the Kurds refuse to surrender and continue to defend their areas. The army is responding with bombing raids and warns it will destroy any source of fire. The clashes are occurring amid efforts to implement an agreement to integrate the Kurds and their forces into the Syrian state.
